The Instructional Designer will have a strong passion for creating engaging and effective training materials. This role requires expertise in instructional design, project management, and video production. This position will develop customer-facing training curriculum and plan in-person live events utilizing adult learning theory, instructional design expertise and process improvement for the Residential and Landscape Contractor (RLC) division’s sales and service partner channels, including the mass channel and individual dealers and distributors.

Work Location:

This opportunity is based out of Bloomington, MN international headquarters. Candidates should prepare for a hybrid schedule, that includes 3-days on-site, and up to 2-days optional at a home office.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:

  • Develop and design instructional materials and training programs using adult learning principles and instructional design theories. Proofread, edit, and test learning content to ensure validity, consistency of language and style, as well as correct application of templates and standards. Collaborate with subject matter experts and colleagues to gather and analyze content requirements.

  • Create engaging multimedia content including videos, e-learning courses, job aids, documentation, and interactive modules.

  • Conduct needs assessments and analyze learner profiles to ensure training solutions are effective and aligned with business goals. Utilize project management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and quality of training materials. Ability and willingness to implement feedback from stakeholders to continuously improve training programs.

  • Design and develop online courses and instructional materials using tools like Articulate Storyline and Rise, Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro and Illustrator preferred at minimum), and others.

  • Manage users, courses, curricula, and reports in our learning management system (LMS); experience using Absorb LMS is a plus. Provide email customer service support to our dealer and distributor network, assisting with course enrollment, new dealer setup and troubleshooting, course recommendations, and general inquiries.

  • Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in instructional design, e-learning, and manufacturing training. Perform other related duties as assigned.

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Learning & Development, Adult Education, Human Resource Development, Instructional Design, or other related field of study; --OR-- 2+ years relevant experience

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and training is a plus.

  • General knowledge of key principles and practices of learning and development including adult learning principles, instructional design, and facilitation techniques. Prior instructional design and facilitation experience preferred. Experience with in-person training event planning is a plus.

  • Prior experience with learning technologies desired, including virtual delivery platforms like Microsoft Teams, course-authoring tools, and learning management systems preferred.

  • Proven experience in video editing and multimedia production. Proficiency in animation and video editing software preferred, especially Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications experience including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required; proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and graphic design experience preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill, and attention to grammatical detail required.

  • Attention to detail and ability to work well under time-sensitive deadlines.
