This Sr. Manager of L&D will be responsible for developing, maintaining , and driving strategic programs and processes across the Toro Company (TTC) that shape , optimize , and mobilize our learning and development initiative s. They will own the design and execution of practices related to the evaluation and evolution of wholistic learning and development solutions to support the business. Role will c ollaborate with human resources ( HR ) partners , talent COE peers, and business leaders on maximizing organization-wide learning and development programs, systems, and tools. Leads a team responsible for enhancing and deploying learning and development processes across the company.

What Will You Do?  

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for the following responsibilities:

Strong Talent & Teams

  • Own, create, enhance , and deploy learning and development processes and solutions for office and production employees inclusive of leadership , individual learning and development programs and career planning focus ed on driving tangible impact and outcomes .

  • Assess organizational needs and d esign innovative and effective learning solutions and models , including e-learning modules , on-the-job training, workshops, and certification programs.

  • D evelop, d eploy , and manage learning programs, ensuring they are accessible and relevant to all employees with keen focus on the production workforce .

  • Under the guidance of the managing director of talent and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), take on a primary role in the advancement and adoption of enterprise human resources priorities as related to the learning and development function, including ensuring we develop teams and talent to deliver on the ambitions of the company, foster an engaging workplace, and create a best-in-class experience for our people.

  • Leverage the enhanced capabilities of the human capital management system (Workday) to advance and accelerate the application of learning and development practices; develop strong systems capability; utilize data to drive results.

  • Partner with the managing director of talent and DEI and with the talent analyst to develop analytics that will enable data driven talent insights which can be used to inform strategic decision making – incorporate practices with operational rigor and on a recurring basis.

  • Support business strategy and objectives and enable a learning and development return on investment through consultation with HR partners , talent COE peers, and business leaders to understand learning and development needs, develop plans/processes to resolve business and/or organizational challenges, and to construct learning solutions aligned to strategy.

  • In partnership with the talent management team, design and facilitate organization-wide learning around topics inclusive but not limited to talent management process execution and effectiveness.

  • Own program and project management of key recurring and non-recurring learning initiatives.

  • Manage the L&D budget, ensuring cost-effective delivery of training programs .

  • Identify and drive strategic opportunities for self and for their team to partner with talent acquisition, DEI, and talent management functions to solve for business needs.

  • May provide strategic guidance and consultation on people and organizational design matters .

  • Continually build and l everage TTC employee engagement and lifecycle listening process es to guide organization actions , providing insights and improvement plans for leader and organizational performance .

  • Lead with a global and inclusive mindset to shape people practices that support a diverse workforce.

    Practice Area and Team Leadership

  • Network with external peers, consultants and industry experts to enable benchmarking and stay ing current on talent trends ; r ecommend best fitting solutions and resources for the enterprise .

  • Effectively lead and manage the learning and d evelopment team, ensuring clear understanding and achievement of goals ; g row and develop the team for long-term success with the Company.

  • Manage the relationships and work of out s ide c onsultants when used .

       

    What Do You Need?  

    To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:   ​

  • Requires Bachelors degree in a related field .

  • 8 or more years of experience in learning and development , organizational development, or HR business partner .

  • Position requires up to 20% travel.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in designing learning and development solutions for a manufacturing production workforce, with a particular emphasis on e-learning initiatives and digital offerings .

  • Masters degree in a related field .

  • Experience leading people .

  • C ertification in Change Management, Coaching, Team Building or similar .

  • E xperience working in a corporate, multi-site/global organization .

    Preferred Skills

  • Experience with recognized learning and development tools , particularly digital, and their use .

  • Experience with top tier HCM and learning and development technology (Workday, Successfactors ), in the areas of learning management, and e -learning tools .

  • Experience developing learning using effective adult learning and instructional design principles.

  • Experience with virtual delivery platforms ( Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex ) .
