Who Are We?     

This facility, located in Plymouth, WI, is over 400,000 sq. ft. in size, warehousing 136,000+ SKUs and $50+ millions of inventory. A team of 200+ individuals ships 2.6 million lines of product annually to channel partners, leveraging technology such as SAP, LucasWare, and Mercury Gate.

Job Purpose:

Lead day-to-day operations at The Toro Company’s (TTC) global parts distribution center. Ensure all safety, quality, on-time delivery, and people objectives are met, in service of a channel partner network of 135+ distributors, 5,000 dealers, hundreds of mass retail locations, and thousands of dot com and/or end-user customers.

What Will You Do?  

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for :  

  • Responsible for executing day-to-day operational goals, focused on accomplishment of safety, quality, on-time shipment, and productivity & cost improvements.

  • Monitor day-to-day progress towards operational goals; ensure team meets goals to fulfill customer requirements; make changes to staffing or operational plans to achieve daily throughput targets.

  • Work cross-functionally with Site Leader, HR, and Talent Development to set performance goals & expectations of supervisors & team leaders within the operation, to drive improved accountability & employee engagement.

  • Coach supervisors & team leaders on best practices in areas such as inventory control, storage density, material flow (inbound & outbound), resource allocation, and volume analysis.

  • Develop problem solving capabilities in supervisors & team leaders by teaching LEAN problem-solving skills (see, solve, share, coach).

  • Participate in LEAN process improvement programs via structured kaizen events.

  • Work with Site Leader & Talent Acquisition to build & maintain a strong team; partner in activities such as recruitment, hiring, proper on-boarding, and on-going training to meet employee & operational needs.

  • Foster culture of collaboration and teamwork - defuse, resolve, and reduce conflict.

  • Monitor leading & lagging key performance indicators (KPIs) for operational performance; track results and report-out to stakeholders on variances, root causes, and countermeasures to improve performance & reduce process variation.

  • Partner with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team members to execute actions to improve safety & security of people, building, and materials, ensuring all OSHA, state, and local regulations are met.

    What Do You Need?  

    To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Business, or related field.

  • 5+ years of Supply Chain experience in progressively complex positions; Operations and/or Distribution Center and working with Unionized workforce experience a plus.

  • Demonstrated effective leadership of teams through change, leveraging LEAN practices, in a fast-paced & complex environment, within an organization that values logistics and distribution as a strategic advantage.

  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence at all levels across the organization.

  • Self-motivated and directed, able to work well under pressure, manage and prioritize multiple initiatives concurrently, attend to details, and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to anticipate problems and take action to minimize their likelihood and impact.

  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and change priorities and direction as needed, allowing for optimum effectiveness.

  • Ability to create change & improve operational performance with streamlined sustainable, and efficient processes.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds (Spanish fluency a plus).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, basic understanding of SAP WMS and TMS preferred.

  • Typical office environment as it pertains to lighting, temperature, and noise level when in administrative/operations offices.

  • Warehouse setting with moving equipment.

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse, and to handle other computer components.

  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
